A DRIVER is being hunted by cops after draping a swastika flag over the back doors of a white van.

The vehicle was driven through busy traffic on Monday – with the shocking Nazi symbol clearly visible to fellow motorists.

Police are now investigating and want to track down the driver of the white Ford Transit to question them.

The van made a four-mile journey on the A48 road between Cross Hands and Pont Abraham in Carmarthenshire, south west Wales.

While it is not illegal to display the swastika under British law, it could classify as a hate crime if it is used to incite hatred.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed Powys Police said: "Police received a call on Monday evening, 21st September, reporting that a white van, displaying a Nazi flag on the rear of the vehicle.

"Anyone with information is urged to contact Dyfed Powys Police."

Rebecca Rosenthal, chair of Equality Carmarthenshire, urged anyone with information to contact police.

She said: "It’s offensive on so many levels. Nazi symbolism represents oppression and genocide for many areas of our community.

“Let’s hope this is a misjudged joke and that it’s acted on quickly.”

The incident comes less than a week after a man sparked fury after flying a swastika flag outside his home.

Steve Allman, 66, from Hindlip, Worcs, is now being investigated by the police for the alleged “hate incident”.
